How we built Radar, our own AI assistant
Radar answers questions about SEO and AI visibility, runs a live scan of how a business shows up when people ask AI for recommendations, asks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude directly, and checks whether AI tools can read your website. It emails you the full report, books a call with us right in the chat, and sends every lead, including phone calls, straight to our CRM. We built it ourselves on Anthropic’s Claude, and it runs pay-as-you-go.
Every blip is a business an AI assistant might recommend. The green one is you.
The question every client asks: does ChatGPT know about us?
More people now ask an AI assistant for a recommendation before they ever open Google. They ask for the best brunch spot in Leslieville, a good family dentist nearby, a venue for 200 guests. The assistant answers with a short list, and if your business isn’t on it, you never get the chance to compete.
Generative engine optimization, or GEO, is the work of getting onto those lists. It’s the core of what we do. A standard chat widget can answer FAQs, but it can’t show a business owner where they actually stand. So we built an assistant that can.
Typical website chat Before
- Scripted answers to a handful of FAQs
- “Leave your email and we’ll get back to you”
- Leads typed into the CRM by hand, if at all
- Nothing a visitor couldn’t read on the page
Radar Now
- Real answers about SEO, GEO and AI visibility
- A live scan of how your business shows up, in about a minute
- The real answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude, and a check of whether AI can read your website
- A full report you can share by link or get by email
- Talk to it out loud, or type, and book a call without leaving the chat
- Every lead, from chat or phone, saved to HubSpot with an instant alert so we follow up fast
Eleven pieces, one conversation
Radar is deliberately simple: a small widget on our site talks to a secure service we control, which calls only the tools it needs. Voice and phone calls run alongside it. Click any piece to see what it does.
Radar widget
A lightweight chat window, styled to match our site, that streams answers word by word. It never holds a password or API key, so there’s nothing sensitive in the browser to steal.

What happens in about a minute
AI assistants build their recommendations from what the web says: best-of lists, local guides, directories and reviews. A Radar scan reads those same sources, asks the assistants themselves, and checks your website, all at the same time.
Ask
Radar asks for your business name, what you do, and your city or neighbourhood. Your website is optional. No email needed.
Search and ask
It runs 3 to 4 live searches phrased like a customer, and puts the same question to ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude, picking the ones your customers actually use.
Check
It works out whether you’re named and who is named instead, and checks whether AI crawlers can reach and read your website.
Act
You get a verdict, what each AI said, a website score with fixes, the competitors to watch and three quick wins, in a report you can share or have emailed.
Named in one local guide, but the biggest best-of lists point to other bakeries.
- Competitor A Top of 3 best-of lists
- Competitor B Featured in a city guide
- Competitor C Strong Google reviews
- Pitch the two city guides that rank for “best bakery”
- Add a menu page with FAQ and schema markup
- Ask regulars for Google reviews that mention your specialties
Illustrative example. Run a real scan on your own business with Radar.
Honest by design
A Radar scan combines two views. The web searches show which lists and guides shape recommendations in your category. The direct questions show what ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude actually answered, through their official APIs, at that moment.
AI answers change from person to person and day to day, so we show the real answers and the sources behind them, and never claim more certainty than they support. What a scan reliably shows is the gap, and closing that gap is the work we do.
Every scan feeds the Toronto AI Visibility Index
Scans of Toronto and GTA businesses add one anonymous entry to a public index: how often AI names local businesses, which assistants name them, how ready their websites are, and which businesses AI recommends most in each category. The scanned business is never named.
Built to be trusted
An assistant that speaks for your business has to be careful. These rules are built into Radar, not bolted on.
- No made-up promises. Radar never quotes prices, guarantees rankings, or invents results, clients or links.
- Consent before contact. It only saves your details after you share your email and agree to be contacted.
- Keys stay locked away. Every password and API key lives in the secure gateway, never in the browser.
- Stays on topic. It politely declines unrelated requests and ignores attempts to rewrite its instructions.
- Spam-proof and budget-capped. Per-visitor rate limits, caps on scans and report emails per day, and a hard monthly spending limit.
- Voice with limits. The mic only turns on when you tap it, voice chats end after five minutes, and our voice key only works on our own website.
- Real calendar, no surprises. Radar only offers times that are actually open, checks again before booking, and limits how many calls one visitor can book.
- Anonymous by default. The Toronto AI Visibility Index never stores or shows the name of a business that ran a scan.
- Calls filtered. After a phone call, only real enquiries go to our CRM. Spam and robocalls are flagged, not saved.
- A human behind it. Every lead goes to Simar directly, with a summary of what you asked.
How Radar grew
We didn’t build it all at once. Each stage shipped, got used, and shaped the next one. It’s the same way we roll out automation for clients: start small, prove it works, then add.
Answers and leads
A chat that knows our services and our rules, and saves interested visitors to HubSpot with an instant email alert.
The Radar scan
Live web searches that show whether a business shows up where AI assistants look, and who shows up instead.
Reports that travel

Voice
Tap the mic and talk. The conversation lands in the chat as text, so you can switch back to typing at any time.
Ask the real AIs
Every scan puts the customer’s question to ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude, chosen by the kind of business, and shows exactly what each one said.
Website check
A score out of 100 for whether AI tools can reach and read your site: crawler access, readable text, schema, speed and more, with the top fixes.
Book in the chat
Radar shows real open times from our calendar as buttons, in your time zone, and books the call without sending you anywhere else.
Phone calls into HubSpot
When someone calls our voice agent, Radar reads the call afterwards, saves real leads to HubSpot with a summary, and emails us right away.
The AI Visibility Index
Anonymous results from local scans now power a public Toronto index of how AI recommends businesses, by category.
What it runs on, and what it costs
No monthly chatbot subscription. Radar is pay-as-you-go, so the cost scales with real conversations.
Costs in US dollars, based on pay-as-you-go pricing at the time of writing. A chatbot platform with similar features typically starts at a monthly subscription before any usage.
The same thinking, applied to your business
Radar is a working example of how we approach every engagement: find where customers are actually looking, then build what’s needed to show up there.

Questions about Radar
What is Radar?
Radar is the AI assistant on digital6ix.ca. It answers questions about SEO, GEO and AI visibility by text or voice, runs a free scan that asks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude directly and checks whether AI can read your website, emails the full report on request, and books a call with our team right in the chat. Digital 6ix built it in-house on Anthropic’s Claude.
Does Radar actually check ChatGPT?
Yes. Each scan asks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude your customer’s question through their official APIs and shows what each one answered, choosing the assistants your kind of customer is most likely to use. It also searches the web sources those assistants draw on. Answers in the apps can still differ by person, location and day, so treat it as a strong snapshot, not a permanent ranking.
What does the website check look at?
Whether AI search crawlers like OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and Googlebot are allowed in, whether your key information is readable without JavaScript, business schema markup, your page title and description, sitemap, contact details and mobile speed. You get a score out of 100 and the three fixes that matter most.
Can I talk to Radar instead of typing?
Yes. Tap the mic in the Radar chat and speak. Radar answers out loud, and everything said appears in the chat as text, so you can switch back to typing at any point and it keeps the context. Your browser will ask for microphone access the first time.
Can I share or save my Radar scan?
Yes. Every scan is saved as a report with its own private link, kept for 90 days. You can share the link with a partner or your team, or ask Radar to email the full report to you.
Can I book a call through Radar?
Yes. Ask Radar to book the free audit call and it shows the next open times from our calendar as buttons, in your time zone. Tap one, confirm your name and email, and it’s booked. You get the calendar invite by email.
What is the Toronto AI Visibility Index?
A public, anonymous summary of Radar scans of Toronto and GTA businesses: how often AI names local businesses, which assistants do, how ready their websites are, and which businesses AI recommends most in each category. The businesses that ran scans are never named.
How much does Radar cost to run?
Chats cost a few cents each, a full scan costs well under a dollar including the questions to ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude, and voice is billed per minute only when someone talks, all pay-as-you-go. There’s no monthly chatbot subscription.
What happens to the information I share?
Your messages are processed by Anthropic’s Claude to generate replies. During a scan, your business name, category and city are sent to OpenAI and Perplexity to ask the customer’s question. Voice chats and phone calls are handled by our voice provider, Vapi, and may be recorded. Radar only saves your name and email to our CRM if you share them and agree to be contacted, or if you call us and leave your details, and we use them only to follow up on your enquiry. Scan results for Toronto and GTA businesses are added, without the business name, to our anonymous index.
Can you build something like Radar for my business?
Yes. We build branded AI assistants that answer accurately, stay on-brand, and send leads into your CRM. Book a free audit call and we’ll look at whether it’s the right fit for you.
